Roam free India is active now as two major telecom operators
Airtel and Idea Cellular announced some packs which offer free roaming charges.
TRAI worked a lot for free roaming and it became fruitful as free roaming packs
are now available in India

Roaming in telecom means when a subscriber goes to other
circle other than the home circle, he needs to pay charges on incoming calls
and more than normal for outgoing as well as for SMS.
What’s the offer?
Airtel announced free roaming in all over India on the
charges of Rs. 5 per day and one time pack of Rs. 79 per month. Whereas Idea
cellular will offer two recharge options one is around 250 and other is around
40 Rs. With giving some prepaid balance and offer free roaming, and the same
rates on roaming as the home circle.
However these offers are only available to pre-paid customers
and there is no offer announcement on post paid subscribers.
The other telecom company may follow soon to offer free
roaming on incoming.
There are no roaming charges even in big countries like USA
and China which are more than double in area compare to India. The mobile users
in India are increasing on rapid pace and the charges for talking on mobile are
still high in India especially in case of ISD and STD calls. So this is the
welcome step by the telecom companies.
